A documentary record from public sources

The archive is a searchable record of actions taken by, or bearing directly on, the federal government — executive orders, agency rules and notices, court rulings, congressional acts, and the reporting that documents them. Every entry shown in the public archive rests on a Tier 1 primary record — the federal record, the courts, the wire services, or a broadsheet news desk — or on independent corroboration by two or more news desks, and each entry links to its sources. Our methodology sets out the standard in full.

Documented actions, not characterisations of character

Entries describe what public records and reporting show: the action taken, when, and by which office or official. They are summaries of documented events, drawn from the cited sources. They are not statements about any individual’s private life, motives, or character, and they are not offered as opinion.

Good faith and accuracy

The archive is compiled in good faith from sources believed to be reliable, under fixed written rules applied the same way each week. Despite that care, errors can occur — a mislabelled source, an outdated status, a summary that needs refining. Where we become aware of an error, we correct it. If you believe an entry is inaccurate, please report it.

Public interest and fair report

The archive reports on the acts of government and on matters of public concern, drawing on official records and established reporting. Where an entry summarises a court filing, a government document, or news reporting, it does so as a fair report of those public sources, which are cited so readers can consult them directly.

Links, affiliation, and advice

Entries link to original sources hosted by third parties; the archive does not control, and is not responsible for, the content of external sites. The archive is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any government body, agency, or official. Nothing on this site is legal advice.
